Exciting news from Silverton assisted living facility
SILVERTON – Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia recently celebrated two major achievements that will help shape the future of the assisted living facility.
The first was the completion of a major expansion of the facility’s assisted living quarters, doubling from 14 to 28 beds.
Cascadia Silverton Marketing Manager Karrie Poortinga said the expansion was part of the company’s long-held desire to adapt to the needs of the people in the Silver Valley community.
“The expansion was driven by a noticeable shift in the needs of our senior community,” Poortinga said. “Over time, we observed a growing demand for assisted living services, while interest in independent living declined. Our assisted living program consistently maintained a waitlist exceeding six months, with multiple inquiries each month. This clear trend highlighted the community’s evolving needs, prompting us to expand our assisted living capacity to better serve our residents and reduce wait times.”
According to Poortinga, Cascadia leaned into existing resources to complete the project, allowing them to make modest upgrades and updates to the facility while keeping the project cost-effective.
These updates have also allowed them to expand services and hire additional staff.
“With additional rooms, we can accommodate more residents, including married couples who wish to stay together while receiving care,” Poortinga said. “Furthermore, the larger facility enables us to enhance our offerings, such as hiring a part-time activities assistant, to enrich the daily lives of our residents.”
Cascadia Healthcare has long been the standard bearer for skilled nursing and assisted living care in Shoshone County, with many accolades being received by Silverton’s sister facility, Mountain Valley, in Kellogg.
But now it’s Silverton’s turn.
Silverton was recently presented with a National Award for Excellence in Quality from the National Assisted Living Association. The facility was just one of 129 facilities across 46 states to receive the award.
“This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to providing outstanding service and care,” Cascadia Silverton CEO Rob Nahmensen said. “The awards program recognizes organizations that meet progressively rigorous standards of quality to improve the lives of their residents.”
