POST FALLS — Casey E. Drews will be the new prosecutor for Post Falls.

Drews brings nearly a decade of public service and trial experience to the city’s legal services department, according to a press release. She joins the city following her most recent role as a deputy prosecuting attorney for Kootenai County. Drews was also the designated prosecutor for the Mental Health Court Program.

“As a fourth-generation Idahoan, I’m deeply honored to serve in this role and give back to a state and community that have shaped who I am,” said Drews. “Growing up here has given me a deep understanding of the values, challenges and strengths that define our region."

Drews is a graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law, was raised in the Silver Valley and she is raising her own family in Coeur d’Alene.

She called the job of city prosecutor "a personal and professional calling" and stated that her perspective as a prosecutor is shaped by her commitment to justice and extensive courtroom experience.

"I am proud to bring my insight and dedication to this position, and I look forward to working alongside my colleagues and the community to ensure fairness, accountability and trust in our legal system,” Drews said.

She will begin in her role in Post Falls on June 24.

“Following the appointment of Eileen McGovern to the magistrate bench, we knew filling her role would require someone with both courtroom acumen and community perspective," City Attorney Field Herrington said. "Ms. Drews brings precisely that. Her experience across prosecution and defense ensures a thoughtful approach to justice that will serve Post Falls well.”
