Memorial Day ceremonies being performed in Kootenai, Shoshone counties

Memorial Day will be observed on May 26 with several ceremonies taking place throughout Kootenai and Shoshone counties. 

Here are a few of them:

• Shoshone County cemetery visits | 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

Shoshone VFW Post No. 1675 and Osburn and Marine Corps JROTC sponsored observances of Memorial Day at cemeteries around the Silver Valley. 

9 a.m., Gene Day Cemetery, Madison St., Osburn. 

9:30 a.m., Silverton of Cascadia Nursing Home, 405 Seventh St., Silverton. 

10 a.m., Mullan Cemetery, 10406 Mill Road, Mullan. 

10:30 a.m., Nine Mile Cemetery 413 Cedar St., Wallace. 

11:30 a.m., Murray Cemetery, Kings Pass Road, Wallace. 

1 p.m., Hunt/Bisaro Cemetery, 347 Aspen Way, Kingston. 

1:30 p.m., Pinehurst Cemetery, 183 Serenity Loop, Pinehurst. 

2 p.m., Greenwood Cemetery, 1007 McKinley Ave. W, Kellogg. 

2:30 p.m., VFW Hall, 318 E. Mullan Ave., Osburn.   

• Memorial Day ceremony | 11 a.m., Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N Government Way, Coeur d’Alene.    

The Coeur d’Alene remembrance ceremony will be conducted by the Pappy Boyingtons Marine Corps League and feature music by the Herndon Girls with an address by Mike Quinn. Food and drink will be provided.  

• Memorial Day event | 11 a.m., Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 N. Spokane St., Post Falls.  

Honor the brave people who gave their lives serving our country. Presented by city of Post Falls and American Legion Post No. 143. 

• Memorial Day event | noon, Pinegrove Cemetery, 6693 Highway 53, Rathdrum.    

Show your respect for fallen heroes of the nation's armed forces. American Legion Post No. 154, City of Rathdrum and Northwest Guardian Riders partnered to host the event. 

• Ceremony for military forces lost at sea memorial | 9:30 a.m., 2369 E. Honeysuckle Ave., Hayden. 

The Laying of the Wreath ceremony will honor members of the military lost at seat Honeysuckle Beach Submarine Memorial. The ceremony will include a prayer, presentation of a ceremonial wreath, rifle salute and taps.   

• Memorial Day ceremony | 11 a.m., 8930 N. Government Way, McIntire Family Park, Hayden.   

A remembrance ceremony will be held at the McIntire Family Park stage with a presentation of colors, a performance by Hayden’s Got Talent winner, Paige Dance, speeches, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Honor Guard, taps and bagpipes played by the Hot Punch Highlanders.   

• Boat launch closure | 9-11 a.m., 2369 E Honeysuckle Ave., Hayden.  

Honeysuckle Beach and boat launch will be closed during Hayden’s Memorial Day ceremonies.
