WALLACE — Over the last 17 years, Shoshone County has received a chunk of money from the federal government in the form of SRS (Secure Rural Schools) funds that have been vital to the existence of Silver Valley schools and roads.

The Shoshone Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved additional funds for an ongoing remodeling project at the Shoshone County Courthouse. The project is currently underway on the third floor of the 117-year-old building, where part of the law library is being converted into additional office space.

N. Idaho systems awarded DEQ grants

A trio of North Idaho systems are among the half-dozen selected for grants to fund studies to evaluate community drinking water and wastewater systems. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality announced the award of $191,300 to six drinking water and wastewater systems on Wednesday. Among those selected for a grant were the Sagle Valley Water and Sewer District in Bonner County, the Curley Creek Water Association in Boundary County, and the Kingston Water District in Shoshone County.

One Shoshone County city and another taxing district were among 26 drinking water and wastewater systems that will receive state funding.
