•Citizen contact in parking lot of Kellogg PD. Subject got a handcuff locked on his hand, requesting assistance in removal. Novelty pair of handcuffs (no pink fur) that do not take regular handcuff keys. Subject was advised to go to the Fire Station for removal (bolt cutters not an axe). I was notified later that the subject never showed. Unknown result except on our end that we could not disengage the handcuff with our keys.

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Karen Yvonne Thacker, 78, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away at the home of her daughter, Terri Sink of Osburn, on September 20, 2017. William “Bill” Thomas Croel, 62, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away September 13, 2017, at Kootenai Health of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He was born December 9, 1954 in Lansing, Michigan.
Helen M. Herndon, 80
Helen M. Herndon passed away at her home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on September 17, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born on August 15, 1937 in Pomeroy, Washington to Gilbert and Martha Morris. When she was five, she moved to Spokane with her parents and siblings, Elizabeth and Charles. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes grade school and graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1956. After graduation, she began working at the Rockwood Clinic. She then met Richard (Dick) Herndon, the brother of her best friend Mary Ellen Herndon, and they were married at Saint Augustine’s parish in Spokane in 1959. Helen and Dick eventually moved to Wallace, Idaho where they raised their family of four children. Both Helen and Dick loved living in Wallace and spending time with family and friends camping up the North Fork or on Coeur d’Alene Lake, marching in the kazoo band as part of the Wallace Elks parade, and the annual Christmas tree hunts. She loved decorating for the holidays, especially at Christmas, and was renowned for her Christmas cookies. Helen and Dick also enjoyed ocean cruises and annual winter trips to Hawaii. She was an avid Gonzaga University basketball supporter and enjoyed cheering them on with her family.

David Alan Hill, 67 of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away on September 18, 2017 at his home. He was born August 30, 1950 in Long Beach, California; David was the son of Theodore and Elma (Marquez) Hill.

WALLACE — On September 14, the Kellogg Police Department was notified of a juvenile, 10 years of age male, Kellogg, who allegedly made threats to bring a weapon to school, the Pinehurst Elementary.

Hermia Lillian Crosby, 96
Hermia Lillian (Clark) Crosby died peacefully on September 8, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society, Silver Wood Village (Good Sam) in Silverton, Idaho; she was 96. Hermia was born on December 5, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN to Benjamin William Clark and Hermia Edwards. She graduated from high school there as well as the University of Minnesota. On March 25, 1943, she married Garth Merrill Crosby, also of Minneapolis. After two years in El Paso, Texas and a mining camp in New Mexico, they moved to Wallace, raised two sons, Benjamin and Thomas, and invested their time and energy in the community. In 1968, they bought a cabin at Leaning Pine Point on Lake Coeur d’Alene, where they enjoyed relaxing, boating and welcoming family and friends. Garth died on January 2, 1992.

KELLOGG — The Shoshone News-Press has received several emails and calls regarding the service outages in the Uptown Kellogg area as a result of the McConnell Hotel fire a week and a half ago.
Cause of elderly woman's death in St. Joe wildfire area determined
WALLACE — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reports that the 74- year old Emmett, Idaho woman who was found deceased in the St. Joe National Forest earlier last month died as a result of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

- Haylie Betham is a senior at Wallace High School. Her favorite class is yearbook because she loves photography and editing. She’s currently in the National Honor Society and is a cheerleader. Some of her special interests include her passion for photography, spending time outdoors, and eating — which she does frequently. Haylie’s plan after graduation is to attend NIC for her general studies, afterward she would like to transfer to U of I to pursue a degree in business in hopes of establishing her own photography business. Haylie is sponsored by the Wallace Drum and Bugle Corps.
Dave Lambert, 75
Dave Lambert, Pinehurst, Idaho, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Dave passed away on September 2 at Kootenai Memorial Hospital. Born on October 22, 1941 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Ralph and Dora Lambert, the family which included brother, Richard (Dick), and Dave moved to Wardner in 1942. Shortly thereafter, a final move was made to Pinehurst and a sister, Joanne, was born. Dave graduated from Kellogg High School in 1960 and joined the Army where he served for 3 years.

Virginina 'Gina' Ann Leitte, 74
Virginia “Gina” Ann Leitte, 74, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away Aug. 28, 2017, at the Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 26, 1943, in Fergus Falls, Minn., the second of four children, to Lester J. and Juline (Sundre) Leitte.
