“He’d open the doors to his home to many kids,” former Coeur d'Alene High player and current Viking boys basketball coach Jon Adams said. “I had Thanksgiving dinner at his house once. As a kid, I’d keep losing my winter coat, so he and his wife Shirley would go out and buy me one, or they’d find me one. He used basketball to give some purpose. In a lot of ways, for me personally, I can’t think of anyone that had more influence on me.”

James Allen Seaton, 85, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away January 8, 2022 at his home in Kellogg, surrounded by his loving family listening to his favorite songs, “Give Me Jesus” and “I Can Only Imagine”.

4-H camp teaches kids equestrian skills
KINGSTON — The Kootenai/Shoshone 4-H Program hosted their annual horse camp last week where the participants learned several equestrian drills and skills.

Easy Riders compete at 4-H State Competition
October 2 – 8 is National 4-H Week and several members of the local Easy Riders 4-H Horse Club made the trip to the Idaho State Competition in Nampa. The team qualified for state competition based upon their finish at the recent Shoshone/Kootenai County regional competition in Coeur d’Alene.

Ellen Elizabeth Kauppi, 74, of Milwaukie, Ore., passed away July 21, 2021, at her home of Milwaukie. She was born Sept. 10, 1946, in Kellogg, Idaho. Ellen was the daughter of David Richard and Flora Anora (Donahue) Edwards.

Local 4-H'er takes second at competition
The Easy Rider’s 4-H Club continues to represent the Silver Valley well – particularly the young Kenna Stanley. Stanley, 9, recently competed in the Kootenai/Shoshone County 4-H Oral Presentation Contest and finished as the Reserve Champion in second place overall in her age division.
